An organic electroluminescence illuminating device (L) has a structure in which an organic electroluminescence element () is provided and encapsulated between a pair of substrates (). A light emitting surface of the organic electroluminescence element () has a portion which is not parallel to a light extraction surface of the entire illuminating device.
