Abstract

A silent chainin which a plurality of linkseach having a pair of tooth partswhich mesh with sprockets and a pair of pin holesare arranged in the lengthwise direction and thickness direction and are linked so as to be able to pivot about one another by linking pinswhich are inserted into the pin holes, and sliding platesare provided. The sliding plateshave a pair of pin holesinto which the linking pinsare inserted, and also have a back surface partwhich has a greater back surface height hthan the back surface height hof the linksand comes into contact with a tensioner arm or chain guide. The sliding platesdo not have tooth parts which mesh with the sprockets.
