Abstract

The invention relates to a method for cooling a roll (), in particular a working roll () of a hot-rolling system, comprising the steps of feeding coolant () by means of a nozzle () into a gap () between at least a portion of the roll surface and a cooling shell () that can be placed against the portion of the roll surface, and adjusting the gap height (h) between the cooling shell () and the roll surface. According to the invention, the adjustment of the gap height (h) comprises either measuring the pressure (p) of the fed coolant () or measuring the volumetric flow rate (V) of the fed coolant (). The invention further relates to a corresponding device () for cooling a roll ().
