Abstract

A method for treating electrocoating fluids involves exposing the electrocoating fluid to high-frequency ultrasound while emitting microbubbles into the electrocoating fluid. In further embodiments, the method includes emitting electromagnetic radiation into the fluid. In other embodiment, the method includes routing electrocoating fluid into a compartment. An apparatus for treating electrocoating fluids comprises a compartment () configured to hold electrocoating fluid, at least one ultrasound emitter () configured to emit high-frequency ultrasound () into the compartment (), and a microbubble emitter () configured to emit microbubbles () into the compartment (). In further embodiments, the apparatus may be in fluid communication with an external electrocoating bath. In other embodiments, the apparatus may include an electromagnetic radiation emitter (), which may emit visible light into the compartment.
