Abstract
An image forming apparatus includes an image carrier, a charging unit, an electrostatic latent image forming unit, a developing unit that contains a liquid developer containing a toner and a carrier solution and that develops an electrostatic latent image with the liquid developer to form a toner image on the surface of the image carrier, a transfer unit that transfers the toner image onto a recording medium, and a fixing unit that includes at least one pair of first and second rotating members that form a nip between the first and second rotating members. The following condition (A) is satisfied: the amount of the carrier solution on the surface of the toner image is about 0.7 g/mor less during passing of the recording medium through the nip of the most-downstream pair of the at least one rotating-member pair in the leading direction of the recording medium.
