Abstract

A method and system for modifying ventilator operation based on determining the orientation of a patient associated with the ventilator is disclosed. A patient orientation monitoring device, which may be attached to the patient, generates patient orientation data to facilitate in modifying the ventilator operation. Modifying the ventilator operation includes instructing the ventilator to increase the amount of fresh gas to the patient.
