Abstract
User data is transmitted between a mobile station () and a first base station (), the user data being combined into data units, in particular packet data units, before being transmitted. For transmission of data units, transmission-specific information describing an instantaneous state of the transmission is stored in the mobile station () as well as in a first network unit () at a higher level than the first base station (). With the relocation of the mobile station () from the first base station () to a second base station () having a second higher-level network unit (), the transmission-specific information stored in the first higher-level network unit () is transmitted to the second higher-level network unit () to continue the transmission after the relocation essentially directly from its latest state.
