A negative electrode active material for a lithium ion secondary battery contains a lithium titanium complex oxide having a composition expressed as LiTiMnO(where 0<x≦0.3), LiTiMnVO(where 0<x≦0.3, 0<y≦0.05), or LiTiMnBO(where 0<x≦0.3, 0<z≦0.3).
