A needle assemblyincludes a hubretaining a cannula, a protective unitadvancing and retracting to surround the forward end of the cannula, and a cylindrical portionsurrounding the outer periphery of the protective unit; the protective unithas a construction in which a protective coverprotruding from and retracting into the cylindrical portionis formed integrally with a spring portionso as to be in series therewith, with the huband the cylindrical portionbeing coupled together to form a hub member.
