A knee joint endoprosthesis () for forming an articulation between a femur and a tibia includes a femur component (), which is connected to the femur, a tibia component (), which is connected to the tibia, and an intermediate element () which is mounted between the tibia component () and the femur component (). This intermediate element lies against the femur component () with a modular sliding surface () which includes a lateral sliding surface () and a medial sliding surface (), and can be connected in a releasable manner to the tibia component ().
