Abstract
The present invention is related to substituted butanol derivatives of the formula: wherein R is an unsubstituted or substituted Cstraight chain alkyl, an unsubstituted or substituted Cbranched chain alkyl, an unsubstituted or substituted Cstraight chain alkenyl, an unsubstituted or substituted Cbranched chain alkenyl, an unsubstituted or substituted Ccycloalkyl, an unsubstituted or substituted Calkoxy, nitrile, halo, amino, an unsubstituted or substituted Calkylamino, an unsubstituted or substituted Cdialkylamino, carboxy-Calkylamino, carboxy-Cdialkylamino, an unsubstituted or substituted acetoxy, carboxy, an unsubstituted or substituted carboxyethyl, an unsubstituted or substituted Calkylcarbonyl, an unsubstituted or substituted Calkylcarboxy, an unsubstituted or substituted Calkylthio, an unsubstituted or substituted Calkyloxy, carboxamido, an unsubstituted or substituted Calkylcarboxamido or an unsubstituted or substituted Cdialkylcarboxamido. Such compounds are useful in flavor or flavor compositions.
