Abstract

An electrical machinecomprises a first statorand a second statorspaced from the first stator, at least one of the first statorand the second statorincluding a guide arrangement. The electrical machinealso includes a plurality of rotor elementslocated between the first statorand the second statorand cooperating with the guide arrangementfor movement relative to the first statorand the second stator. Adjacent rotor elementscooperate with each other so that the rotor elementsform a rotor and at least one of the rotor elementsincludes a coupling elementto transfer force to or from the rotor. Each rotor elementincludes a first support surfacewhich faces towards the first statorand defines a first air gap with the first stator, a second support surfacewhich faces towards the second statorand defines a second air gap with the second stator, and one or more magnetsmounted on each of the first and second support surfacesin the first and second air gaps.
