A plurality of movable temporary hangersare placed on a stay cableB hung in tension above a target stay cableC, and then the target stay cableC is held on a lower portion of the temporary hangers. Then, the target stay cableC held with the temporary hangeris detached from a bridge deckand a main tower. Then, the target stay cableC and the temporary hangersholding the target stay cableC are moved toward the bridge deckand removed.
