Abstract
An isolated flyback converter having temperature compensation (TC) uses primary side sensing and an output diode, the output diode having a variable voltage drop related to its temperature. A feedback voltage V, proportional to the output voltage V, in a feedback loop is compared to a fixed reference voltage Vfor setting a duty cycle of a power switch, wherein Vis caused to approximately equal V. A TC circuit has a voltage source configured to generate a proportional-to-absolute-temperature voltage V, wherein Vis at approximately Vat a calibration temperature Tand rises as a temperature exceeds T. The voltage source is connected to the Vnode via a TC resistor R, so that at Tno current flows through R. Therefore, the selection of the optimal Rdoes not affect the selection of a scaling resistance for generating V. The current through Rat elevated temperatures compensates V.
