Abstract
Uneven brightness is less likely to occur in lighting devices at low cost. A backlight unitincludes LEDs, a chassishaving a bottom plateand housing the LEDs, and an LED drive controllercontrolling drive of the LEDs. The LEDsare arranged in a matrix in row and column directions (X-axis direction and Y-axis direction) along the bottom plate, forming respective LED groupseach along the row direction. The LED groupsinclude a middle LED groupand an end side LED group. The middle LED groupis located in a middle portion of the bottom platein the column direction group and the end side LED groupis located closer to an end of the bottom part from the middle portion group. The LED drive controllercontrols light of at least one of the middle LED groupand the end side LED groupsuch that the end side LED grouphas relatively high brightness and the middle LED grouphas relatively low brightness.
