Asymmetric aryl polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxanes (ArPoss) compounds synthesized by the 'corner-capping' of phenylSiO(OH)with aryl trichlorosilanes are described. The ArPoss compounds have the chemical structure: wherein Ph is phenyl and wherein R is selected from the group consisting of: and mixtures thereof.
