Abstract

The invention relates to a continuous method for producing esters, in which at least one polyol ester of formula (I) (R—COO)R(I), where Rrepresents hydrogen or an optionally substituted hydrocarbon group containing 1 to 50 carbon atoms, Rrepresents an optionally substituted hydrocarbon group containing 2 to 10 carbon atoms, and m represents a number from 2 to 10 and is smaller than or equal to the number of carbon atoms in R, is reacted with at least one monohydric alcohol of formula (II) R—OH (II), where Rrepresents an optionally substituted hydrocarbon group containing 1 to 30 C atoms, using microwave radiation in a reaction tube, the longitudinal axis of which extends in the direction of propagation of the microwaves of a single-mode microwave applicator, so as to obtain at least one ester of formula (III) R—COO—R(III), where Rand Rhave the meanings indicated above.
