The width W1 of a groove () is formed narrower than the width W2 of a groove (). The width W2 of the groove () is formed at a prescribed width such that a sealing material () that overflows the groove () can be formed along the groove (). The sealing material () spreads across the entirety of the groove () and the groove () when a color filter substrate () and an active matrix substrate () are bonded together. The groove () is formed so as to be positioned within the groove () in a plan view.
