Abstract

The present invention relates to a method of treating obesity in a subject by administering to the subject a compound having the formula: wherein n is from 0 to 8; Ris CHOH, CH(OH)R, CHOR, COR, C(O)NH, C(O)NHR, C(O)NRR, C(O)NHNH, C(O)NHNHR, C(O)NHNRR, C(O)NRNH, C(O)NRNHR, C(O)NRNRR, C(O)NHNH(C(O)R), C(O)NHNR(C(O)R), C(O)NRNH(C(O)R), C(O)NRNR(C(O)R), CN, or C(O)R; Ris H, unsubstituted or substituted alkyl, YH, YR, YRR, YRYRYR, YC(O)R, C(O)YR, C(O)NH, C(O)NHR, C(O)NRR, NH, NHR, NRR, NHC(O)R, or NRC(O)R; Rand Rare the same or different and are selected from the group consisting of H, halogens, unsubstituted or substituted alkyl, OH, OR, NH, NHR, NRR, NHC(O)R, or NRC(O)R; R, R, R, R, R, R, and Rare the same or different and are selected from the group consisting of H, unsubstituted alkyl, substituted alkyl, unsubstituted aryl and substituted aryl; Ris selected from the group consisting of H, unsubstituted alkyl, and substituted alkyl; and Y is O or S; and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof.
