Abstract
A method is provided for operating a motor vehicle having an internal combustion engine () that is supplied with fuel from a fuel tank (), and having a regeneratable filter device () for taking up fuel vapors from the fuel tank (). To improve properties of fuel vapor retaining systems during operation of motor vehicles, the method includes carrying out a forced start of the internal combustion engine () promptly after a refueling process in order to regenerate the filter device ().
