Abstract

A spinal aspiration apparatusis described that includes a needlethat has a shape suitable for the location of and penetration through a pedicle pathway of a vertebra. The distal end portion of the spinal aspiration apparatusincludes a plurality of apertures that are in fluid communication with a lumenof needle. The size and angular orientation of the apertures are constructed using the principles of fluid mechanics to create separate and distinct harvest volumes of bone marrowwithin a bodyof vertebra. A proximal end portionof needleincludes an external interfacethat is adapted to provide a fluid tight coupling with an external source of reduced pressure. A handleis connected to proximal end portionthat aids in the manipulation of needle
