Abstract

Micro-nanomanipulation device that is capable of grasping and actively releasing micro or nanometer-sized objects in ambient and vacuum environments as well as methods of manufacturing the devices of the present invention. The micro-nanomanipulation device includes gripping arms, an active release plunger to impact or push objects, and microactuators that actuate the gripping arms and the active release plunger.
