Abstract
Reaction products AE of vinyl copolymers A having at least one functional group per molecule, with multifunctional compounds E derived from epoxide functional compounds having, on average, at least two functional groups per molecule, which reaction products AE have structural elements derived from ethylenically unsaturated monomers, and beta-hydroxy alkylene imine, —NR—CH—CR'(OH)—, or the corresponding ammonium structure, where R and R′, independently from each other, stand for H or an alkyl group having from 1 to 8 carbon atoms, a process for their preparation, and a method of use thereof as binders for waterborne coating compositions.
