Abstract
White ink of the present invention for ink jet recording contains a white pigment having an average particle size of 200 nm to 400 nm and composed of metallic oxide, and the white ink satisfies Formula (1):0.5×≦1.3×  (1)where A represents the white pigment content (mass %) in the white ink, and V represents the proportion (%) of the volume of the white pigment which has completely settled in the white ink to the total volume of the white ink.
