Abstract

A light-collecting type liquid crystal display device capable of displaying an image properly is provided. The liquid crystal display deviceincludes a liquid crystal panel; an irradiation section, a control device, and a plate-like memberattached to a part () of the liquid crystal panel. A light guiding sectionfor collecting natural lightand propagating the light is located on a first surfaceof the plate-like member; and the light guiding sectionis connected to the irradiation section. A plurality of optical sensorsare provided on the first surfaceof the plate-like member. The irradiation sectionincludes a plurality of LED elements. The control deviceis connected to an LED driving section. The control deviceis connected to the optical sensors. The control deviceis structured to control an amount of light to be emitted from each of the plurality of LED elementsby use of the LED driving sectionbased on the amounts of light detected by the optical sensors
