Abstract

A toner is provided that, even in a small amount thereof, gives a satisfactory image density and that is free of image problems, e.g., fogging and offset resistance, even during long-term use and in a high-temperature, high-humidity environment. The toner contains a binder resin, a pigment, and a prescribed azo compound wherein, designating as (A) the solubility of the azo compound in a toluene-hexane solubility test and as (B) the solubility of the binder resin constituting the toner in the toluene-hexane solubility test, the (A) and the (B) satisfy the relationship |(B)−(A)|≦60.
