Abstract

A method of increasing the production of extracellular polymeric substances (EPS) in anculture is disclosed. The method includes inhibiting an enzyme, such as citrate synthase, aconitase, or isocitrate dehydrogenase, in the tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle leading to alpha-ketoglutarate.
