Differences in the output of the printed barcode caused by differences interpreting the barcode generating code of an application program are absorbed so that the barcode desired by the user can be printed. The printer driverof the host computerextracts the character data contained in plural blocks of input barcode generation data, combines the extracted character data to generate a character data array, and based on the generated character data array generates and outputs a single barcode generation command CMB to the printer
