Abstract
A dual-sided electrophoretic display () having a first region () and a second region () is provided. Each of the first region () and the second region () includes selectively operable members () that function as pixels for presenting images on the electrophoretic display (). Each of the selectively operable members () is driven by a driver circuit () by way of corresponding thin film transistors and capacitors (), which are opaque. As the selectively operable members () of the second region () are bigger than are the selectively operable members () of the first region (), the aperture ratio of the selectively operable members () of the second region () is greater than in the first region () when viewed from the rear side (). Thus, a contrast ratio of the second region (), when viewed from the rear side () is sufficiently high that text, icons, and characters presented in the second region () are legibly visible on the rear side ().
