Abstract

The present invention relates to recombinant attenuated pestiviruses, in particular to recombinant attenuated CSFV, BVDV, or BDV, wherein said recombinant attenuated pestivirus does not produce a dimeric Eglycoprotein. The present invention also relates to immunogenic compositions comprising such a pestivirus as well to a method of attenuating a pestivirus comprising the step of modifying the Eglycoprotein by a deletion, insertion or substitution wherein such modification results in a non dimeric Eglycoprotein.
