Abstract

The invention relates to apparatusfor releasably securing the lidof a receptaclefor removal or replacement of the lid, the apparatuscomprising meansdefining first and second vacuum chambers, the second vacuum chamberbeing adapted to contact and secure a lidwhen a pressure drop occurs in said second chamber, the arrangement being such that creating of a vacuum in the first chamberacts on the defining meansto create a pressure drop in the second chamberwithout fluid flow between the chambers, the pressure drop being sufficient to secure the lidfor removal of the lid from the receptacle.
