A universal system and method for handling a container is disclosed. The system can include: a support structure () defining a bay (), the support structure () including support shoes configured to support a container; a sensor () for determining a length of a container in the bay; and a controller () configured to operate the support structure () including a storage mode and a retrieval mode.
