Abstract
There is provided an electronic device capable of safely obtaining password information even when a password of an external storage device of any type is forgotten. An electronic deviceincludes an external memory card connection unitconnecting a memory cardcapable of being locked by a card password, a password retention unitretaining the password information including the card password, a device password retention unitretaining a device password of the electronic device, an input unitfor inputting data, a device setting cancellation unitdetermining whether or not the device password inputted by the input unitand the device password retained in the device password retention unitmatch with each other, and a control unitoutputting the password information or changing the card password of the external storage device set in the external storage device when the device passwords match with each other as a result of the determination.
