Abstract
Described herein are compounds and methods useful in the detection of, e.g., Zn, in vitro and in vivo. The compounds include amino acids and peptides functionalized with a moiety that binds, e.g., Zn. The peptides may be further functionalized with a detectable moiety. The peptides may also comprise amino acid sequences known to localize extracellularly or in specific areas within a cell.
