Abstract
A fuel filler pipe offering high anticorrosion performance and high fabrication accuracy is provided. Specifically, a tubular fuel filler pipe bodymade of a plated steel sheet has a fuel filler portat one end thereof, and is connected at the other end thereof to a fuel tank. A short cylindrical retainermade of stainless steel is mounted into the fuel filler port, and includes first and second tube membersandeach having both open ends. An inner circumferential surface of a portion of the first tube membernear an opening thereof at one end thereof includes an internal threadthreadedly connected to an external thread Cof a fuel cap C. The second tube memberis inserted through an opening of the first tube memberat the other end thereof into the first tube member, and is joined to the first tube memberbefore the internal threadby resistance spot welding Sw. One of the open ends of the second tube memberin a direction opposite to a direction of insertion of the second tube memberforms an insertion holethrough which a nozzle Gof a fuel filler gun G is inserted. A retaineris fitted into the fuel filler pipe bodyto allow insertion of an end portion of the fuel filler pipe bodynear the fuel filler portinto a space S between an outer circumferential surface of a portion of the second tube membernear the insertion holeand an inner circumferential surface of a portion of the first tube membernear the opening thereof at the other end thereof, and a portion of the retainerfitted into the fuel filler pipe bodyare continuously welded to the fuel filler pipe bodyby brazing Tw.
