Abstract

Disclosed is a technique to eliminate wasted tunneling encapsulation processing during redirection of a packet. According to the technique, when a packet of a first connection passing through a local mobility anchor ('LMA')and a mobile access gateway ('MAG')using a first prefix of an interfaceof a mobile node (“MN”)is redirected to a second connection passing through a LMAand a MAGusing a second prefix of an interfaceof the MN, a redirection tunnel Tis established between the LMAand the LMA. When the MAGknows the first prefix, the LMAencapsulates a packet addressed to the first prefix that is redirected via the tunnel T to be addressed to the MAGfor transferring.
