Abstract
The invention is intended to provide a lighting device that shortens time required to obtain peak brightness. A backlight unitaccording to the invention includes: cold cathode tubesas a light source; a chassishousing the cold cathode tubes; a reflection sheetdisposed within the chassisand reflecting light; and a heat insulatordisposed between the chassisand the reflection sheet. Because the heat insulatoris disposes between the chassisand the reflection sheet, heat in the chassisis less likely to escape to the outside. Therefore, the temperature inside the chassiscan be efficiently increased with the heat generated by the cold cathode tubes
