Abstract
An insulated stator coil () is provided comprising a plurality of coil strands () having a top surface () and a bottom surface (). A filler material () is disposed on the top surface () and the bottom surface () of the plurality of coil strands () to smooth discontinuities at the top and bottom surfaces (). A conductive cap () disposed over each of the top and bottom surfaces () of the plurality of coil strands (). A conductive strip () is disposed between the filler material () and each respective conductive cap (). The conductive strip () is effective to lower a resistivity of the conductive caps () such that partial discharges do not occur in the insulated stator coil ().
