A film capacitor element including a base dielectric film layer, a vapor-deposition metal film layerformed on the base dielectric film layerand consisting of a first film portionand a second film portionthat are spaced apart from each other by a margin portion, and a dielectric covering film layerwhich is formed integrally on the second film portionby vapor-deposition polymerization or coating and which has a covering portionwhich fills the margin portionand covers an entire area of an end face of the second film portionon the side of the margin portion.
