A printerwith a paper consumption output function resets the count of a paper consumption counter(ST) when a start measuring command Cis received from the host computerside, and measures the paper consumptionA from a specific start measurement time to a specific stop measurement time using a paper consumption counter(STto ST). When a fetch paper consumption command Cis received (ST), the printeroutputs the paper consumptionA, which is the count of the paper consumption counter, to the host computer(ST).
