An apparatus and a method for testing of sensors for documents of value and a pertinent test medium. A test medium () having an electronic data memory () for data is provided, the data being used for testing the sensor (). The data are transmitted from the test medium to a test device (), which tests the sensor in dependence on the transmitted data.
