Abstract

When an image is captured in a wood lumber measuring mode, a distance to wood lumber is detected. An area extracting unitfor a component drawing image area extracts component image areasA-L of the wood lumber. A drawing generatorfor a component drawing image selects the component image areasA-L successively to generate a component drawing image. Among shape lines in the component drawing image, an eliminatoreliminates a paracentral shape line, an edge side shape line, a peripheral shape lineand determined shape lines. If a total pixel number of a portion where an estimated elliptical shapegenerated by a shape estimation unitis overlapped on a residual shape linedisposed inside a corrected drawing imageis more than a threshold, it is judged that the estimated elliptical shapeis correctly shaped. An object shape determining unitextracts the estimated elliptical shapeas a shape of wood lumber. A size measuring unitmeasures a size of the estimated elliptical shape. A size determining unitdetermines an actual size of the wood lumber according to the size measured by the size measuring unit, the distance to the wood lumber and a focal length.
