Abstract

A device for mixing, dispensing and applying a paste, such as bone cement, has a housing (), a cylinder () for receiving the paste, and a piston () associated with a piston rod (). A mixing paddle () is provided with ridges () for engagement with grooves () on the piston (). By this engagement, the paddle-piston assembly (-) can be rotated after removal of a safety pin () and interconnected by a jamming mechanism (). After this interconnection, the paddle-piston assembly (-) is used to push the paste inside the cylinder () and out thereof for dispensing. A low-friction piston rod locking mechanism () is provides as well.
