Abstract

An agitator () includes a stem () having a shaft coupler () at one end adapted to be attached to the rotatable shaft () of a food mixing machine. The other end of the stem () has a mixing blade () which can be in the shape of the bowl of a spoon. The stem () is shaped like an I-beam having side walls () spaced by a central wall (). The side walls () have opposed notches () leaving a web () therebetween, and the central wall () is provided with an aperture () which is aligned with the web (). Together the web () and the aperture () define a weakened area where the stem () will break upon a predetermined torque which is established based on the hardness of the food product () being mixed.
