Abstract

A lubricating composition contains an oil of lubricating viscosity and 0.5 to 10 percent by weight of a poly(meth)acrylate viscosity modifier polymer comprising (i) 15 weight percent to 35 weight percent monomer units of methyl(meth)acrylate, (ii) 0 to 10 weight percent monomer units of one or more C-Calkyl(meth)acrylates, (iii) 50 to 85 weight percent monomer units of one or more C-Calkyl(meth)acrylates, and (iv) 0 to 10 weight percent monomer units of one or more nitrogen-containing monomers. Such a lubricating composition exhibits a high viscosity index and may impart improved fuel economy to an internal combustion engine.
