A backlight unitaccording to the present invention includes LEDsas light sources, an LED boardmounting the LEDsthereon, a chassisthat stores the LED boardtherein and includes an attachment hole, a body portionthat sandwiches the LED boardbetween the body portionand the chassisand holds the LED board, and a board holding memberincluding an attachment portionthat is protruded from the body portiontoward the chassisto be inserted into the attachment hole, and the board holding memberis configured to be rotatable along a plate surface of the chassisbetween a holding position at which the attachment portionoverlaps with an edge of the attachment holein a plan view and sandwiches the edge of the attachment holebetween the attachment portionand the body portionand a non-holding position at which the attachment portiondoes not overlap with the edge of the attachment holein a plan view and attaching and detaching of the attachment portionfrom the attachment holeis allowed.
