Abstract

An automatic transmission having high pressure actuation and low pressure lube includes a hydraulic circuit () having a source of pressurized fluid (), an actuation circuit () that delivers pressurized fluid to actuate components of the transmission, and a cooling circuit () used to cool components of the transmission. The source of pressurized fluid includes a motor, a first pumpoperatively driven by the motor, and a second pumpselectively driven by motor. A clutch mechanismis connected between the motorand the second pumpso as to selectively engage and disengage the second pumpin driven relationship with the motorso that the second pumpselectively supplies pressurized fluid to the cooling circuitwhen the clutch mechanismis engaged.
