Abstract

To provide a radio communication system capable of reducing the power consumption of a radio base station apparatus. A radio communication system according to the present invention includes a user apparatus () and a radio base station apparatus () that performs radio communication with the user apparatus (). The radio base station apparatus () monitors a communication status of the user apparatus () present within a service area of the radio base station apparatus (), and when there is no user apparatus () performing communication, intermittently transmits a signal that is to be transmitted from the radio base station apparatus () to the user apparatus (). The intermittently-transmitted signal is, for example, a downward common channel signal. Further, the intermittent transmission is performed at regular intervals or random intervals.
