Abstract
An article storage facility is provided, which can reduce required space for installation in the rack fore and aft direction while preventing the configuration to become more complex. An article storage rackhaving a plurality of storage unitsarranged in a vertical direction and in a lateral direction, and an article transport devicewhich can transport articlesto each storage unitin the article storage rackare provided. The article transport deviceconsists of a movable bodymovable in the rack lateral width direction of the article storage rack, a vertical movement guiding mastmovable in the rack fore and aft direction of the article storage rackwith respect to the movable body, and an article supportwhich is movable to a projected position for article transfer for the storage unitand to a pulled back position away from the storage unitby a movement of the vertical movement guiding mastin the rack fore and aft direction and which is guided and supported by the vertical movement guiding mastfor vertical movement.
