Abstract
A liquid crystal television () includes a backlight () which emits light toward an outside of the liquid crystal television () so that an image is displayed on a liquid crystal panel () and a backlight control circuit () which controls whether or not the backlight () emits light. The backlight control circuit () carries out control with respect to backlight () so that a light-emitting period in which the backlight () emits light alternates with a non-light-emitting period in which the backlight () does not emit light.
